DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OHIO - EMILY MACLEOD WINS REGIONAL RUNNING MEET

Deerfield Township, Ohio -  Emily MacLeod, a senior at Mt. Notre Dame High School and resident of  Deerfield Township, heads to the State Cross Country Division I Finals this Saturday with the best time recorded in all of the regional meets across the state that were held last weekend. She finished in first place in the Troy Regionals, finishing the 3.2 mile course in  18:15. She beat the only other runners from across the State Saturday that should give her any real competition in the State running showdown. MacLeod beat runners from McAuley, Mason, and Oak Hills, whom all could have won the other regional competitions. Of course, all of the courses these woman run on are different, but the Cincinnati area is certainly a powerhouse of Cross Country running. On Saturday, MacLeod beat two time and defending State Champion, Angela Bizarri, and 2003 State Champion, Sarah Leeper.

Loveland High School's Sarah Leeper who won the State meet in 2003 heads back to the State tournament for the third time with an 11th place finish at the Troy Regional. The Division I race is at  12:35 P.M at Scioto Downs, Columbus. (Scioto Downs is located two miles south of Route 270 on Route 23 South (High Street). 270 is easily accessible from I-70 and I-71.) The Loveland Womans Team who had been ranked fourth in Associated Press polls failed to qualify for the State meet. The Loveland men also finished out of the top four teams that qualified to compete at State.
