LOVELAND, OHIO – Remembering 9/11 and “Charleston 9”

Chiefturner LOVELAND, OHIO – About 200 firefighters, EMT's, police officers, military personal, and other “first responders” gathered with residents and politicians from around the area on Tuesday evening to remember the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and downed, Flight 93. The memorial service was held at the Loveland Firefighter's Memorial near Nisbet Park. It was the sixth anniversary of the coordinated terroris suicide attacks by Islamic extremists.

U.S. Representative Jean Schmidt was the keynote speaker. She warned that another terrorist attack within the United States is inevitable.

Loveland/Symmes Fire Chief Otto Huber spoke about the nine Charleston South Carolina firefighters who died on June 19 when a roof collapsed while fighting a warehouse blaze.

Huber then unveiled a new plaque that has been installed on one of the pillars at the memorial honoring the “Charleston 9.”

In the photo above is Loveland/Symmes Assistant Chief Tom Turner who helped unveil the new plaque which is a laser etching of the firefighters. Turner said that the department's official staff photos were used to make the collage.
