CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO - The Clermont County Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) will accept pre-applications for both the Section 8 voucher and the public housing waiting list beginning Monday, February 4 through Friday, February 29, 2008. Applicants must pick up the pre-application form at the Metropolitan Housing Authority office, located at 65 S. Market Street, Batavia. The office is open between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“Through this program, the Clermont Metropolitan Housing Authority strives to assist low-income families, including those who are elderly or disabled, with safe, affordable housing opportunities,” said CMHA Executive Director Sarah Kincaid. The agency currently maintains 203 public housing units and administers 891 Section 8 units throughout Clermont County.
Pre-applications that are properly completed and signed will be accepted only if the family composition and income are within HUD guidelines; eligibility for housing programs is generally based on income and size of the family. The CMHA reserves the right to check all applicant references.
“It’s important to open the waiting list periodically, so that when we have vacancies available in our public housing or Section 8 housing units, we can quickly get families moved in,” said CMHA Assistant Director and Section 8 Coordinator Linda Brooks.
