CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO - The Board of Clermont County Commissioners has proclaimed August as “Humane Society Appreciation Month.” The Clermont County Humane Society celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and an open house and adopt-a-thon is planned on Saturday, August 18, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the shelter, located at 4025 Filager Road in Batavia.
The Clermont Humane Society was established in 1957 to foster the adoption of unwanted animals and to enforce the humane treatment of all animals. Since that time, the shelter has helped find new homes for thousands of homeless animals, and has been a strong advocate of spaying and neutering animals.
“The Humane Society Board and animal shelter staff have evolved into an outstanding group,” said Humane Society Vice President Stewart Smith. “We have developed a close and supportive relationship with Clermont County.”
At the 50th anniversary celebration, citizens are invited to tour the kennels, and enjoy a small carnival that will include food, games, and entertainment. This is also a great opportunity to visit the many animals at the shelter and adopt “a new best friend.”
