LOVELAND, OHIO - Grailville has announced the revival of its Sunday Supper tradition, beginning Sunday afternoon, October 28, with “A Feast for the Body, Heart and Mind.”
October’s Sunday Supper will be preceded by a book party and art opening. Grailville Co-Director Pauletta Hansel will read from and sign copies of her new book of poems, First Person, published by Dos Madres Press in Loveland. Hansel’s writing has been featured in national and regional journals and anthologies. Her awards and achievements include a 2001 Ohio Poet of the Year designation and a 2003 Post-Corbett Award in Literary Arts
New work by Loveland visual artist Elizabeth Murphy will be on display. Murphy is a painter who has been working recently in the ancient art of Byzantine iconography. Icons are "written" on wood using glowing colors and gold leaf. Murphy has also been exploring semi-abstract images in dreamlike settings in collage and oil colors on canvas. As well as her studio work, she is the book designer/illustrator for Dos Madres Press.
Local poet Robert Murphy, founded Dos Madres in 2004 in conjunction with his wife Elizabeth Murphy. “The press is dedicated to the belief that the small press is essential to the vitality of contemporary literature as a carrier of the new voice and new works by established poets, as well as the older, sometimes forgotten voices of the past. And in an ever more virtual world, to the creation of fine books pleasing to the eye and hand.'
Grailville is at 932 O’Bannonville Road, Loveland. You can join the artists for poetry and art at 3:30 PM, and then top off your evening with a wonderful Grailville supper, beginning at 5:30 PM.
The Poetry Reading, Book Signing and Reception are free and open to the public. Supper is available for $15. Advanced reservation is required,
