Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Keeping the lights on, the refrigerator running, and the house heated in the winter or cool in the summer is something many of us take for granted. However, many individuals and families in our community are unable to meet rising energy costs. Living without the benefits energy brings to us is not only uncomfortable, but it poses serious health risks and is a considerable barrier to self-sufficiency.
Through our Home Energy Assistance Program, CAA provides the assistance that individuals and families need to keep the lights on, keep the furnace running, and keep the house cool through the summer heat waves. HEAP does this through four different types of assistance:
- Regular HEAP Assistance (September – April)
- Emergency HEAP Winter Crisis Program (November – March)
- HEAP Summer Cooling Crisis Program (June – August)
- PIPP: Percentage of Income Payment Plan (year-round)
