“Give yourself and your poetry the gift of time and attention,” said Pauletta Hansel. Women are invited to Grailville Retreat and Program Center for a Midsummer Nights’ Practice of Poetry Retreat held Friday, June 19- Sunday, June 21.
This retreat is part of Grailville’s ongoing series designed to help women use the “practice of poetry” as a support to their spiritual and creative lives. Led by poet Pauletta Hansel, this retreat will provide opportunities for using “creative writing as a tool to listen deeply to your own heart’s wisdom, as one might in meditation or prayer.”
Attention will also be given to the process of revision of poetry: by crafting the words to describe our own life’s journey we also learn new ways to craft our lives. “The Practice of Poetry” helps us find new meaning in our experiences, and make room for both inspiration and careful discernment in the decisions that affect our spiritual and creative lives.
Facilitator Pauletta Hansel (Grailville’s Co-Director) is a poet, teacher and author of two collections of poetry. This retreat is open to all women who desire to write. “Past experience in poetry is not required only a love of language and an eagerness to write,” said Hansel.
The Midsummer Nights’ Poetry Retreat is at Grailville, 932 O’Bannonville Road.
Tuition (includes meals) is $250 double occupancy, $200 commuter. And $300 single occupancy.
Reservations with nonrefundable deposits are required. Limited scholarships may be available. Contact 513-683-2340 or www.grailville.org for more information or to register.
