CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO - “The 161st annual Clermont County Fair will be bigger and better than ever,” said Clermont County Fair Board President Bill Scharber, surveying the Owensville fairgrounds, located at 1000 Locust Street. He expects nearly 80,000 people to visit the fair that runs July 25 through July 31, open 8 a.m. until midnight, featuring everything from baby contests and lumberjack shows to a veterans’ salute, bike races, a cheerleading competition, amusement park rides,
food, tractor pulls, and two demolition derbies. “We are proud to again offer our service men and women (past and present) who have a military ID, free admission each day of the fair,” he said.
The fair officially begins with the annual Stonelick Township Firefighters Parade at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010. The 2010 Clermont County Fair will offer 4-H exhibits, cake and pie competitions, cattle shows, and all the traditional fair displays. “In addition, we’ve added a 50’s and 60’s hot wax show at the grandstand, there’s a beautiful new horse barn for our equestrians, and there is free shuttle parking available at the old CNE Elementary lot, located at SR 276 and SR 132,” said Scharber.
On Monday of fair week (July 26), children 12 and under get in free and can ride all of the amusement rides without charge. Tuesday of fair week (July 27) is family day, where everyone gets a $2 discount on the $10 admission charge. Wednesday is seniors’ day; admission is only $3 for those 60 and over.
“We are very proud of how the fair has continued to grow over the years,” said Scharber. “Each year, the fair board works hard to ensure that our facilities are the best they can be. It’s great to see all of the families enjoy time at the fair together; many of the adults were brought here when they were kids by their parents or grandparents. Tradition is what this is all about.”
