More than 3,000 food items to donate
Loveland Intermediate School (LIS) and Loveland Middle School (LMS) students learned a lesson in giving Friday, Nov. 22. The students brought in more than 3,000 food items to donate to Loveland’s LIFE Food Pantry for the annual Pass It On food drive – enough food to feed 220 Loveland City School District families.
“It makes me feel good because you’re helping someone,” said Babs Dwyer, LIS fifth grade student.
“It’s awesome – the kids have been so excited,” said Karen Burke, LIFE Food Pantry event coordinator. “We have exceeded our goals, so, we’re so happy that we were able to do this for the community. These families would not be able to have this type of a holiday feast without all of the donations from the kids at the school.”
This was the 13th year the schools partnered with the LIFE Food Pantry. As of last year, students had donated more than 22,900 items. LIFE Food Pantry is a faith-based organization that provides food, financial assistance and services to residents within the Loveland school district and to members of supporting congregations.
